Favela Tour Rio de Janeiro
Tour information
The favela tour in Rio de Janeiro starts at metro station Cardeal Arcoverde in Copacabana, where the guide will pick you up. You will travel together with the metro to Mangueira. In Mangueira the walking tour through the favela starts. You will learn about the history and every day life in the community. The walking tour brings you to a view point where you will have great views over Rio and the nearby Maracanã stadium. There you can take pictures. Then the tour continues downhill again. During the tour we will stop at a local bar, where you can buy a drink and/or snack. When back at the bottom of the favela you will visit the school of Estrela da Favela. There you can see the social project in action and meet the kids that make part of the project that we support. We will finish with a drink and a snack at the school before taking the metro back to Rio’s South Zone. Read our blog about the unforgettable experience to visit a favela in Rio de Janeiro.

If you already want to book a tour for a trip in a couple of weeks or months, you can make a reservation, and we keep you updated on the situation.
Social Impact
Over 50% of the money you pay for this tour goes directly to the social project. On the public school of Mangueira the children learn barely nothing. Estrela da Favela provides them with good education and does more. The goal is to prepare the children for further education and to teach them norms, values and social skills, so they develop a solid base to enter society. They pay extra attention to the development of girls, because they will soon raise the next generation. Only strong women can bring up changes in the favelas in the extremely macho oriented favela culture. Read more about the project on their website. When booking this favela tour in Rio de Janeiro you will make a positive impact on the lives of the children of Mangueira and help increase their future opportunities.
