- Flamengo vs. Santos
Take this opportunity to watch a great football match at Maracanã Stadium. Flamengo and Santos are playing against each other for the Brazilian Championship. Online sales start this Tuesday on Flamengo’s official website.
- Beer Festival
Festival Cervejeiro Carioca runs through September 13th until September 15th in Barra. More than 15 breweries are already confirmed to be part of the festival, which also promises lots of live music, food trucks and a variety stands. Venue: Cidade das Artes map. Time: From 5pm until 10pm. Free event.
Dance the night away at this party in Botafogo. DJs will be playing the best f Brazilian music, including frevo, axé, funk and pop music. The event is free if you put your name on their list on Facebook and get there before midnight. The venue for MUG is Espaço Rampa map.
- Balaio Bom
Great street party for those who like it. DJs and rodas de samba will be playing live from 6:30pm until 00:30am. You can also find food trucks and stands selling fashion, jewelry, arts and crafts at the venue. Where: Praça Tiradentes map.
One of Rio de Janeiro’s best-kept secrets is the island of Paquetá, off the coast in the bay of Guanabara. A small place where cars are not allowed, and where bicycles rule. With this tour, you will hop on a bike in Ipanema to set off in the direction of Paquetá, an old refuge for bohemian Cariocas. Price: R$95.
- Street Fair
In this street fair called O Fuxico Feira, lots of local producers will be exposing their products — fashion, jewelry, arts and crafts. The event starts at 12:00pm and goes on until 8pm. Venue: Praça Nossa Senhora da Paz map. It’s free.
Get the hang of carioca Pagode at this amazing party in Centro. The venue for this event is the rooftop of Xian Rio, a restaurant club at the Bossa Nova Mall. For the lineup., DJs and pagode bands. Tickets are being sold for R$65 here.
SubaJovem is an alternative party in Rio with lots of attractions and different music. The theme for the party this time is the mythical garden, with lots of colors and influences of the 60s and 70s. For the lineup, organizers confirmed a few names, such as Tropkillaz, Ju Schultz & Cix, Omulu, Bloco Vem Cá, Minha Flor, Yas Vilhena and more. The venue for the event was not disclosed yet, but you can already buy tickets here.
- III Annual Meeting of Classic Cars and Motorcycles
If you are a fan of vintage cars and bikes, this is the event for you. Exhibition of old cars, motorcycles and tricycles with a food court, flee market and live music with rock ‘n’ roll bands. Free entry and parking. Venue: Estrada São Pedro de Alcântara, 2020 – Vila Militar map.
- Hell de Janeiro Movie Festival
Hell de Janeiro is a festival of Brazilian and International movies and short films, including animation, documentary, experimental and horror fiction and scary comedy. From September 19th until September 25th at Instituto Cervantes do Rio de Janeiro. More info, access their website.
- Errejota Party
If you enjoy great night out and parties, this is a good choice in Rio de Janeiro. The lineup for this event is packed with famous DJs in Rio. Dennis DJ, Dj Thai, Dj Tucho, Marcson Muller, DJ Michell and more. Buy tickets here.
- Arpoador Blues Jazz Fest
Free street party with live music, food trucks, dance, art and fashion. Venue: Praça Garota de Ipanema map.

- Gay Pride Parade
Join one of the biggest Gay Pride Parade in the world. Starting at 11am at Copacabana Beach (around Porto 6).
- Rock in Rio
The greatest music event in the world is back with amazing artists and attractions. There will be 7 days of event, and the lineup is amazing. With 9 different stages, Rock in Rio is expecting 100,000 people each day at the Olympic Park in Barra. The event starts on September 27th and goes on until October 6thTickets for October 4th (main attraction, Iron Maiden) and October 6th (main attraction, Imagine Dragons) are already sold out, but the tickets for the other days are still being sold online.
