- Scorsese at CCBB
During the month of January, from the 2nd until the 28th, CCBB (Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil) is hosting special programming with all 25 movies of filmmaker Martin Scorsese. The museum is also going to show his early works, such as short films and documentaries. Check the entire programming at CCBB website. A few of the sessions cost R$10, but most of them are free. - Mi Gente! Latin Party
Carioca funk music, reggaeton, cumbia, salsa and more. R$30 all night long (R$20 if you put your name on their list on Facebook). Venue: La Taberna de Laura – Rua Xavier Da Silveira, 34 – Copacabana map. From 23pm until 5am.
An open bar party in Copacabana in one of the most traditional nightclubs in Rio. If you enjoy carioca funk music, then this is the right party for you. Prices between R$20 and R$80. Line up: DJ D’Luccio.
Dance zouk all night long at CIB in Copacabana map. Price R$30 at the door. From 10pm until 5am.
- Chá da Alice
Chá da Alice is one of the most famous carioca funk parties in Rio de Janeiro. For this summer edition, the venue is the famous Circo Voador, a traditional nightclub in Lapa map. Line up: MC Pocahontas, Bloco Bunytos de Corpo, Bloco Saymos do Egyto, Babi Deejay and DJ Gui Serrano. Tickets can be bought online here. Prices starting at R$40.
From 12pm until midnight, you can try lots of delicious vegan food at Vegan Fair in Lapa. But that’s not all. The fair also promises to bring workshops, natural products, pet adoption and much more to Rio de Janeiro. Venue: Las Vegans – Rua Riachuelo, 109 map.
Treta party is one of the most famous LGBT parties in Brazil. This edition has Lia Clark as the host, a famous drag queen from Rio. Venue: Mansão Botafogo map. From 11pm until 6am. Tickets online here.
The Lavradio Fair — Feira Rio Antigo — is a popular street market in Rio de Janeiro that takes place on the first Saturday of every month in the Lavradio Street, Centro. It’s the perfect place to find good jewelry, cheap and nice clothing, antique shops and more.
- Terraço do Amor
Great day party with open bar in a great venue, Lagoon in Lagoa map. This place always brings nice music, beautiful people and a cool vibe. You will like it! Among the attractions are samba band Fica Comigo and DJs. Price: R$140. Buy it here.
- Sat-Venture – Pedra da Gávea Hike Tour
The hike to Pedra da Gávea, located in the middle of Tijuca Forest, is one of the most popular ones in Rio de Janeiro. Going up the 833 meter high mountain is a challenge, but those who succeed receive a reward with maybe the most spectacular view of the city. Caminhos Tours in promoting incredible tours every Saturday of the month for only R$95.

Another day party to celebrate summer in Rio de Janeiro. The venue for this party is the Marina da Glória, known for hosting famous parties in the city.
- Tattoo Week
International Convention of Tattoos and Body Piercings in Brazil! Piercers and tattoo artists will be showcasing their art and products. Miss e Mister Tattoo Week contest, skate competition, tattoo contest, attractions for kids and more. Tickets are being sold online here. This is a 3-day event, from January 11th until January 13th. Venue: Av. Paulo de Frontin, 1 – Cidade Nova map.
- Sat-Venture – Paquetá Bike & Boat Tour
One of Rio de Janeiro’s best-kept secrets is the island of Paquetá, off the coast in the bay of Guanabara. A small place where cars are not allowed, and where bicycles rule. With this tour, you’ll hop on a bike in Ipanema to set off in the direction of Paquetá, an old refuge for bohemian Cariocas. Price: R$95.
- Rio Porque Tô No Rio
To celebrate 6 years of this party, this edition of Rio Porque Tô No Rio is going to have two different dance floors with different kinds of music and lots of fun! Venue: Jockey Club Brasileiro map. Tickets ranging from R$40 to R$60. You can buy it here.
Furacão 2000 is the most famous carioca funk music company in Rio de Janeiro. They’re coming back with their music festival this year and this promises to be huge! Venue: Terreirão do Samba map. Time: From 2pm until 9pm. Tickets: R$20 can be bought here.
If you like samba music, you will love this event. Attractions: Belo, Pixote, Mumuzinho, Xande de Pilares and others. The venue for this event is the big Olympic Stadium map. Lots of locals are going to Samba Engenhão and you’ll love it if you enjoy to mingle with cariocas.
- Rosa de Saron concert
Rosa de Saron is a Brazilian Christian rock band very famous in Brazil. This is the last concert for lead vocalist Guilherme de Sá. Venue for the concert is the great Circo Voador in Lapa. - Sat-Venture – Forest & Waterfall Hike Tour
Rio de Janeiro is famous for its nature, and Tijuca Forest is one of the best places to visit to see the rich nature the city has to offer. From great hikes to refreshing waterfalls to awesome views, it is all there in one of the biggest urban forests in the world. Price: R$95.
The REP Festival (Festival of Rhythm and Poetry) promises to reunite the best rap artists of Brazil. More than 20 attractions divide in three stages will make this make unforgettable. Start to get ready for carnaval. Famous ‘bloco de carnaval’ Sargento Pimenta is having an open rehearsal at Fundição Progresso map in Lapa. Sargento Pimenta is famous to put Beatle’s songs into samba rhythm. You will absolutely love it! R$20 at the door.
Another ‘bloco de carnaval’ is having its rehearsal today. Brazilian singer Anitta and her Boco das Poderosas are having their open rehearsal at Jockey Club. famous guests are set to make an appearance to sing with Anitta, but no names are confirmed yet. Prices ranging from R$80 to R$200 can be bought here.
There’s nothing better than an event with lots of good music and beautiful people. For the second edition of Domingo de Verão: two stages with amazing attractions, VIP area with open bar, lounges by the sea, food trucks and much more. Line up: Luan Santana, Ludmilla, Atitude 67, Melim, Mc Kekel, Os Hawaianos and different DJs. Starting at 4pm. Prices from R460 to R$250. Buy tickets here. Venue: Caminho Niemeyer – Niterói map.
A Caipirinha event hosted by Caminhos Language Centre. This is an informal party on the sidewalks, where they offer really good caipirinha for only R$5 and you can meet other foreigners in Brazil, as well as local friends who stop by. The atmosphere is always great, with free snacks available and Brazilian music playing. Starts at 5pm but people usually start to arrive around 6:30pm. Rua Farme de Amoedo, 135 – Ipanema.
- Sat-Venture – Niterói Bike & Boat Tour
Situated across the bay of Guanabara, you’ll find the city of Niterói. Starting from Ipanema this bike tour will take you to Copacabana beach, Botafogo and downtown Rio – with several stops on the way.
