- Feira do Amanhã
From August 1st to August 5th, Praça Mauá map in Centro will be the venue for a big open fair in Rio. It’s a free event with a huge variety of stands, selling food, art, fashion, jewelry, craftwork and much more for a good price. From 10am to 7pm. Take the subway and VLT to get there easily.
Every Wedsday, Reggaeton takes over Lapa as everyone joins this Latin Party for a night of fun and dance. Open bar with Caipirinha and beer until midnight. - 4km and 8km Run

- Sexta Funk Universitária
This event will bring together college students in Rio for a crazy party. Five whole hours of Open Bar with vodka, beer, caipirinha, various drinks, sodas and water. You can put your name on their list on Facebook for a discount price or pay the full price (R$50 for women and R$80 men) at the door. DJ D’Luccio will be playing the best carioca funk music all night long. Venue: New Mariuzinn Copacabana map.
- Jazz at The Maze
If you like jazz music, The Maze is always the right choice for you. The Maze brings you the most traditional Jazz night in Rio de Janeiro every first Friday of the month. - Arraiá do Iaiá
Even though Festas Juninas usually happen between June and July, during the month of August we still have some parties going on in Rio de Janeiro. Arraiá do Iaiá ia is a great festa Junina organized by Bola Preta, a famous bloco de carnaval in Rio. Tickets starting at R$30 can be bought here.
- Botafogo x Santos Football Match
For football lovers, Botafogo, a traditional carioca team, will be playing against Santos, another famous team from São Paulo, on August 4th. Tickets are not being sold yet, but you can check this page for more information two or three days before the game. Venue: Olympic Stadium map.
Forroçacana is a famous forró band in Brazil. So if you’re really interested in Brazilian culture and want to check this amazing music genre, this is a great opportunity. The band will be playing at Circo Voador map at 10pm.Tickets starting at R$40 are being sold here.
- Wine Lovers Festival
During August 4th and 5th, Wine Lovers Festival will take place at Jockey Club in Gávea. It will mix wine, food trucks, DJs and horse race at the same place. Bets for the horse races starting at R$2. For the complete schedule and attractions, check their event on Facebook. Free entry.
From August 5th until August 9th, check the Mondial de la Bière event at Pier Mauá. This is a beer festival with live music, food stands and different attractions every day. It’s really fun. Tickets from R$50 to R$100 can be bought here.
This event is for the electronic music lovers. With two stages, Love is session is bringing to Rio de Janeiro lots of great DJs, such as Illusionize, Devochka, Dubdogz, Fran Bortolossi and many more. Tickets from R$60 to R$150 can be bought here. Venue: Armazém da Utopia – Centro map.
- Flamengo x Cruzeiro
This is an opportunity to watch a football match at the famous Maracanã Stadium. Flamengo (from Rio) is playing against Cruzerio (from Minas Gerais) for the Brazilian Championship. You can buy tickets starting August 6th. More information here.
- Cannibal Corpse & Napalm Death Concert
If you love heavy metal, Rio de Janeiro sure has something for you as well. The bands Cannibal Corpse and Napalm Death will be having a concert at Circo Voador on August 14th. Tickets ranging from R$130 to R$360 can be bought here.
From August 17th to August 19th and then again from August 23rd to August 26th, the biggest food festival of Brazil comes to Rio for a round of different attractions — from cooking classes, to workshops and food stands. Venue: Pier Mauá map. ou can buy the tickets here.
- Garota Vip
Music festival with lots of famous Brazilian singers and bands, including Wesley Safadão, Simone & Simaria, Ferrugem and Dennis DJ. This is going to be huge, so if you want to mingle with locals and enjoy some national music, this is good choice for you. Tickets ranging from R$60 to R$340 can be bought here. Venue: Olympic Park, Recreio dos Bandeirantes map.
The 22nd Rio de Janeiro International Half Marathon, scheduled for August 19, will feature kits and EXPO Athlete at Marina da Glória. The registrations for the half marathon race, with start in São Conrado and finish in the Aterro do Flamengo, are still open and can be made on the official website. There will also be the Super 5, 5k race with start and finish at Aterro do Flamengo, also with open registrations.
- Arraiá da Estação Primeira 2018
Mixing Festa Junina and samba, Estação primeira de Mangeira, a famous and very tradicional samba school in Rio, will have its Festa Junina on August 19th at their “samba court” map. Free entry. Event from 1pm until 7pm.
Free event at Parque Garota de Ipanema in Arpoador. Food trucks, street food, craft beer, live music, art and fashion. From August 24th until August 26th, starting at 5pm.
