- Arraiá Ipanema
Say goodbye to Festa Junina season with this 3-day street party in Ipanema. Traditional food stalls, ‘quadrilha’ dance, live music, craft beer and much more in this event. From August 2nd until August 4th at Parque Garota de Ipanema in Arpoador. The entrance is free, so just join the fun! The event starts at 5pm on Friday and 12pm during the weekend.
The hike to Pedra da Gávea, located in the middle of Tijuca Forest, is one of the most popular ones in Rio de Janeiro. Going up the 833 meter high mountain is a challenge, but those who succeed receive a reward with maybe the most spectacular view of the city. Caminhos Tours in promoting incredible tours every Saturday of the month for only R$95.
The Lavradio Fair — Feira Rio Antigo — is a popular street market in Rio de Janeiro that takes place on the first Saturday of every month in the Lavradio Street, Centro. It’s the perfect place to find good jewelry, cheap and nice clothing, antique shops and more.
- Hip Hop Lapa
This free event in Lapa brings Hip Hop to the streets of Rio de Janeiro with live concert, freestyle sessions, DJs and lots of dance. From 5pm until 10pm at Rua Joaquim Silva, 127 – Lapa.
- Balaio Bom
Balaio Bom is a free street party full of samba, live music and dancing. If you like a good ‘roda de samba’, this is a great one! Starting at 6pm, the events also have food stalls around it. Venue: Praça Tiradentes in Centro map.
- O Carnaval Nunca Acaba
Lots of people use to say carnaval never ends in Rio de Janeiro. And this might be right. Join this open bar event and revive Carnaval once more until the real deal next year. Some of the attractions for the night include Bloco Vem Cá Minha Flor, New Kids on the Bloco and Arlequeens. - Fest Rio Beer
This is a craft beer festival which is holding its eighth edition at the Gávea Planetarium map from August 9th until August 11th. The event promises a lot of music, special attractions, lectures and, of course, the best and most awarded breweries in Rio de Janeiro and Brazil. One of Rio de Janeiro’s best-kept secrets is the island of Paquetá, off the coast in the bay of Guanabara. A small place where cars are not allowed, and where bicycles rule. With this tour, you’ll hop on a bike in Ipanema to set off in the direction of Paquetá, an old refuge for bohemian Cariocas. Price: R$95.
- Baile da Favorita
Baile da Favorita is the biggest and most famous funk party in Rio. This edition is being held at Marina da Glória map, a great place for parties with an amazing view and a huge outdoor space. Attractions were not discussed yet, but this event always has great singers and dancers. The first lot of tickets are being sold online, with prices ranging from R$70 to R$260.
- Sleeping at AquaRio
This is an amazing opportunity to sleep inside the Rio Aquarium with your little one! Sleeping at AquaRio – Father’s Day Edition is an event in which you and your child can learn together about marine species such as fishes, sharks and stingrays, and ultimately sleep in front of their huge water tank, home to over 2,000 animals. The event starts at 6pm with a snack time between kids and parents. After that, a guided tour will be held and information about marine life will be given, followed by a delicious dinner. A Caipirinha event hosted by Caminhos Language Centre, a Brazilian Portuguese language school in Rio. This is an informal party on the sidewalks, where they offer really good caipirinha for only R$5 and you can meet other foreigners in Brazil, as well as local friends who stop by. The atmosphere is always great, with free snacks available and Brazilian music playing. Starts at 5pm but people usually start to arrive around 6:30pm. Rua Farme de Amoedo, 135 – Ipanema.
- Wine Festival
The World Wine Festival is a partnership between the host of the event and suppliers, importers and distributors for a major wine tasting event. Buy the exclusive wine glass and you can enjoy more than 100 labels from exhibitors. A special menu will be served at the event. The event starts at 7pm. Venue: Farinha Pura Experiência – Rua Voluntários da Pátria, 446, loja 1 – Botafogo map. Tickets: R$150 can be bought here (exchange it for the wine glass at the event).
- Rock 80 Festival
Three whole days with live music, rock ‘n’ roll, food trucks, craft beer and much more! For the entrance, they ask you to bring 2kg of non-perishable food to be donated. Check the attractions and times here. Venue: Parque das Figueiras – Lagoa map. From August 16th until August 18th.
Rio de Janeiro is famous for its nature, and Tijuca Forest is one of the best places to visit to see the rich nature the city has to offer. From great hikes to refreshing waterfalls to awesome views, it is all there in one of the biggest urban forests in the world. Price: R$95.
This is an indie luau party in Ipanema, where organizers are asking people to bring musical instruments, food and drinks. The idea for the luau is to reunite people to have fun together, meet new people, and celebrate life. So, if you think this is your vibe, this can be a really nice event for you to join. Venue: Praia de Ipanema – Posto 7. Event is set to start at 11pm.
- Chá da Glória Groove
Chá da Alice is a LGBT party famous for its inclusive vibe and great events. This time, the hostess is Glória Groove, a Brazilian drag queen and singer, thus the name Chá da Glória Groove. Tickets are R$ 40 here. The event will be held at Vivo Rio map and starts at 11pm.
- Rio de Janeiro International Half Marathon
The 23rd Rio de Janeiro International Half Marathon is scheduled to August 18 in the city of Rio de Janeiro, with distances ranging from 21,097m (~13,109 miles) and 5,000m (~3,107 miles), for people of all genders, duly registered, disregarding the climate conditions. On an extensive tour, the famous mandolin player will perform with the renowned German orchestra L’Arte del Mondo, founded and conducted by Werner Ehrhardt. The ensemble, which features period instruments, has won a number of awards for their recordings. In the repertoire, they will be playing works by Bach, Vivaldi and Bartók arranged by Avital himself, as well as originals for Mendelssohn’s instrument, Paisiello and De Falla. - Jazz na Ladeira
Situated across the bay of Guanabara, you’ll find the city of Niterói. Starting from Ipanema this bike tour will take you to Copacabana beach, Botafogo and downtown Rio – with several stops on the way. In Rio’s Center, you’ll take a ferry, while bringing your bike on board as well, and will go to Niterói, where you’ll visit lots of beautiful spots. Price: R$95.
- Bunker Festival 2019
This huge party is mixing together 6 different party hosts in Rio in a great event with 6 stages and lots of attractions. The event starts at 8pm and only ends the next day at 12pm. There are plenty time to enjoy the event and all of the attractions, such as Ace Ventura, Amigos da Onça, Black Alien, Ennzo Dias, L7nnon, Minha Luz é de Led and much more! - Beach Cleanup
Join Amigos do Mar Rio de Janeiro to clean up Praia Vermelha in Urca. Meet there and bring plastic buckets to collect trash, gloves, water, sunscreen and head gear.
- Garota Vip
Be prepared for one of the best Forró and Sertanejo events in Brazil. This edition of Garota Vip party will also serve as the venue for Wesley Safadão do record his new DVD. Go to Santa Teresa to enjoy good Jazz music in one of the famous sights of the neighborhood. Parque das Ruínas has an amazing view and unique architecture, a perfect atmosphere for a Jazz night. The event starts at 8pm and tickets are R$20. Be aware that the place only holds 300 people, so buy your tickets as soon as possible and don’t miss out!
