- Feira do Amanhã
From April 4th to April 8th, Praça Mauá map in Centro will be the venue for a big open fair in Rio. It’s a free event with a huge variety of stands selling food, art, fashion, jewelry, craftwork and much more for a good price. From 9am to 7pm. Take the subway and VLT to get there easily.
- Roda de choro
Choro is an instrumental Brazilian popular music genre, it’s fast and happy rhythm. Instruments involved in the playing of choro are flute, guitar and cavaquinho, mandolin, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet and trombone. Glória hosts a very famous ‘roda de choro’ every Wednesday and you should join it. Free event. Venue: Boteco Pé de Santa – Rua Benjamin Constant, 104 map.
- Ballet du Capitole de Toulouse
Starting on April 5th, for three days, Ballet du Capitole de Toulouse will have presentations at Theatro Municipal. Including in the program: La Bayadère, Romeo and Juliet, Swan Lake and more. Time: 8pm. Tickets from R$50 to R$125 can be bought here.
- Samba and Feijoada
Events involving samba and feijoada are a very Brazilian thing. This time, Rio Scenarium map is hosting a great party with big names of the Brazilian music, such as Roberta Espinosa and Leandro Sapucahy. Besides the good music, the event will have a traditional buffet of feijoada starting at 1pm until 4pm. Price: R$75. Buy tickets here.
- Retoke na Lapa
This open fair is great to buy good quality clothes for a great price. From 11am to 6pm. Address: Avenida Mem de Sá, 69 – Lapa map.
- Crafts and Recreation at Urca
Recreation, crafts, decor,fashion, pet accessories, food and more. Venue: Praça Cacilda Becker – Urca map. Time: 9am – 6pm.
- 3R Festival
Rock, rap and reggae music festival. Great Brazilian bands are playing in this big festival taking place in Niterói. Line up: Natiruts, Capital Inicial, Marcelo D2, Armandinho, Oriente, NX Zero, Onze20 and 1Kilo. Prices starting at R$50. Time: 1pm. Buy tickets here.
- Forró Festival
From April 19th until April 22nd, Forró in Rio is organazing a Forró Festival in Tijuca. It will be 3 days of workshops and 4 nights of dance, where you can learn how to dance forró and enjoy the music. 18 teachers will be teaching classes and workshops so you understand the culture of forró and also learn the dance steps. It costs R$100 for all the workshops and R$80 for all the parties, which are being held at Rio Scenarium’s Anexo. For more information, check their event on Facebook.
- Luau at Arpoador
Free event that will bring people together to celebrate the beach vibe in Rio de Janeiro. If you want to bring musical instruments to join other musicians, you’re more than welcome to. Time: Midnight.
- BR Legends
League of Legends’ Championship. Competitions, cosplay, virtual reality, Youtubers and more. Sign up your team and buy your tickets beforehand. For more information, check the event’s website.
Petrobrás Orchestra will present the show Arca Sinfônica, with conductor Isaac Karabtchevsky, soprano Juliana Franco and baritone Marcelo Coutinho. Songs presented at this show are all written by Brazilian Vinícius de Moraes. Tickets here.
