Boa Sexta Feira!
Without a doubt spring is here, it is hot and humid; perfect for a coconut water or a beer on the beach. Elections are up and the different candidates are bringing their best arguments out. It seems like all of them have failed to understand the critizism that both Brazilian and international economists have made. They all mostly about controlling inflation, something that perhaps will satisfy the general public but seriously, Brazil needs to do a lot more than that to turn the ship around. It still looks like Dilma will continue at this point. In several favelas around Rio shootouts have become regular again, crime will be the first thing for the new governor of Rio to deal with. A newly announced bank strike is in effect, several offices are closed.
On Saturday the 4th Santos will visit Maracanã to face Flamengo, kick-off is at 16:20h. Struggling Botafogo will receive Palmeiras on Wednesday the 8th in the same stadium, kick-off 19:30h. The day after on Thursday the 9th Fluminense take on Atlético-MG also in Maracanã, kick-off is also 19:30h.
The buses that normally would run on Rua Visconde de Pirajá are temporarily running on the beach avenue Vieira Souto. The next one or two years traffic in the center of Rio will be complicated during rush hours, big constructions in the port area is the reason.
