Bom Dia Amigos! Nice weather this week again. The newspapers are swamped with bad news about the Brazilian economy, something that most likely will make PT’s future bet on remaining in power a bit tougher to make happen.
Football: This Saturday the 6th Flamengo play Grêmio in Maracanã, kick-off 18:30h. The day after Fluminense receive Cruzeiros in the same stadium, kick-off is at 16h.
Public transport: The buses that normally would run on Rua Visconde de Pirajá are temporarily running on the beach avenue Vieira Souto. Big road constructions in Centro make traffic very complicated during certain hours, especially around the bus station.
Nightlife: The best nightlife guide in English is The Rio Times Nightlife Guide, just click the link.
Fruits of the week: In the Rio winter fruits like mangos, pears, plums apples and strawberries are cheap and tasty.
Exhibitions: CCBB (Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil) are celebrating their 25th anniversary with a large Salvador Dali exhibition. Exhibition finishes on the 22nd of September. The address is Rua Primeiro de Março 66 Centro, open Wednesday until Monday 9h/21h (closed on Tuesdays). Free entrance. Site: CCBB – Salvador Dali
There is an exhibition of street-art in Caixa Cultural in Centro. Banksy, Jef Aerosol and Nunca are artists on exhibit. Different styles and techniques are explained. It is open Tue to Sunday 10h until 21h, the end date is the 12th of October. Caixa Cultural is located on Avenida Almirante Barroso 25 in Centro. Site: Caixa Cultural (When I tried the link it didn’t work, it might have been temporary so I left it here)
Bom fim de semana!
