Another week has gone by. Last week I mentioned how robberies had doubled in certain areas in the city. In Centro and in Parque do Flamengo they have dispatched riding policemen.
Needless to say, the economic woes continue. Most reports are pessimistic, and if there ever is written something that is not you’d find it is either from the government or from journalists in lackey newspaper O Globo. On the good side, Ministério Público continues to check up on municipalities around Brazil, lately there was a large hospital fraud discovered in Rio.
The yearly World Surf League Rio leg is currently in full swing, in Arpoador and in Barra de Tijuca the world elite are competing until Friday the 22nd of May. As I write Brazilian Adriano de Souza is in the lead.
There is only one league game in Rio this week, Flamengo play Sport in Maracanã on Sunday the 17th, kick-off is 16h.
The next one or two years traffic in the center of Rio will be complicated during rush hours, big constructions in the port area are the main reasons. Works on Avenida Brazil will make transport to Ilha Grande and Parati complicated during rush hours.

Fruits of the week:
Avocados, kiwis, papayas, persimmons, apples, tangerines and pears are good choices.
Have a nice week!
