Capoeira Classes; Some Schools in Rio

Are you interested in taking Capoeira classes in Rio? This is quite simply a list of some academías (schools) in Rio. They are not recommended by me, just listed.

Mestre Nestor Galpão das Artes Urbanas R. Padre Leonel Franca map (in front of the Planetarium), Gávea. This is where my good friend Fifi used to train and I´m pretty sure it´s really good. All the info you need is on his site.

Jorge Itapuã Beiramar R. Visconde de Pirajá 608 room 608, Ipanema map. He was also indicated by Fifi but she is not sure about the status of his school since he has been working a lot in Europe. Anyway on the site you find some cool clips (capoeira the leaf on the bottom right). If you type "Jorge Itapuã" on Youtube you will get some nice videos to watch.

If you wish to start your day training capoeira angola early morning, they practice on Rua Sa Ferreira 202 in Copacabana, mail omriferra@yahoo.com for more details. On the same address you have Centro Cultural Senzala - Mestre Pixinho. To get her from the Copacabana side just go to the Hotel Othon Leme and go up the hill Chapéu Mangueira, it´s on the first bend. It´s probably a good idea to call them to get more info on the capoeira classes.

Capoeira Corpo Movimento R. Alberto de Campos 12 1st floor, Ipanema map, Phone 2267-8079 or mobile 9274-0252. This is a NGO working in the favelas Cantagalo and Pavão-Pavãozinho. They have Capoeira classes Mon-Thu 19h/21h. It is easy since it is located in the old abandoned Panorama Palace Hotel in Ipanema, just take the elevator to the 1st floor, however call first to make sure the elevator runs and that the classes are on.
