Acai, Guarana and other Brazilian Natural Medicines

Acai
Açaí has long been consumed in the North of Brazil as a source of protein. The latest fad is to eat it cold with guaraná syrup as a sherbet, in Rio this is extremely popular. You can buy it yourself as frozen pulp. The traits are:
- high fibre content
- high on antioxidants
- has healthy omega fats
- has 8 of the 9 amino acids we need
- has vitamins- has minerals like iron- has electrolytes

Guarana
The dried powder from the guaraná berry is widely used in Brazil. It contains a caffeine like substance. Can be bad for the heart in high doses. It´s an energizer and a fat burner.

Acerola
This little fruit is a real C-vitamin bomb, also contains betacarotene.

Maracuja (passion fruit)
This fruit has A, B and C vitamins as well as betacarotene. Used in Brazil as a sedative, many people have a glass of maracujá juice before they go to bed.

Abacaxi (pineapple)
Rich on vitamin A and C as well as iron, calcium, natrium and kalium.

Mango
Vitamin A, B and C. Betacarotene and magnesium.

Goiaba
Vitamin A, B and C. As well rich on fibre and iron.

Caju
Rich on antioxidants and as well vitamin B and C.

Cajú
Cashew fruit

Abacate (avocado)
This fatty, protein rich fruit contains a lot of potassium, vitamins B, E and K. It is the fruit that has most fibres. It contains minerals and Omega 9.
