Bom Dia! It seems like spring is in the air. We are very close to the elections, without question two factors will be massive. The first is a bad national financial situation which will make PT’s future in power less likely. In Rio the drug war and robberies has returned, the election for governor will probably be won by the candidate who offers the best strategy to stop it. Perhaps the assault on Rio’s Archbishop earlier this week will help to put focus on crime problems. For foreign interests the imaginary veil of profound progress has been lifted, the next twelve months will be very important indeed.
Football: This Sunday the 21st Flamengo receive Fluminense in Maracanã, a big derby with kick-off at 16h. On Wednesday the 24th Fluminense receive Grêmio in the same stadium, kick-off is at 22h. Botafogo receive Goiás on Thursday the 25th, kick-off at 19:30h in Maracanã stadium.
Public transport: The buses that normally would run on Rua Visconde de Pirajá are temporarily running on the beach avenue Vieira Souto. Big road constructions in Centro still make traffic very complicated during certain hours, especially around the bus station.
Nightlife: The best nightlife guide in English is The Rio Times Nightlife Guide, just click the link.
Fruits of the week: There are plenty of tasty melons and papayas with good prices this week.
