So it’s Friday the 13th today so watch out! Looks like we’ll have an overcast weekend.
In these times of bad international exposure it’s not hard to find more articles about it. This one in the Guardian touches on some things I think several other have missed: The noise from Brazil? An economy on the brink. It is not the scandals in Petrobras that is the foundation for the crisis, it is the fact that in true South American fashion Brazil’s economy is almost completely linked to exports of prime material (raw or refined) and agricultural produce, so when China’s economy cooled down, so did Brazil’s. The failure to do something with the money is the real problem for Brazil, they need much better education for the population; but it never seems to improve. One good that I see is that a lower valued Real will make Brazilian products cheaper, perhaps that can help to stop the fall?
Just follow this link for the local cup games that are on: Globo Esportes. Next week semi-finals will start, it makes these lukewarm cups (that’s how I feel anyways) a lot more interesting. If there are two of the bigger teams playing, stadiums can sometimes even sell out.
The next one or two years traffic in the center of Rio will be complicated during rush hours, big constructions in the port area are the main reasons. Works on Avenida Brazil will make transport to Ilha Grande and Parati complicated during rush hours.
The best nightlife guide in English is The Rio Times Nightlife Guide, just click the link.
Fruits of the week:
Avocados, pineapples, plums, custard apples, guavas, mangoes, apples and pears are good choices.
Have a Great Week!
